The Budget Formulation and Execution Line of Business (BFELoB) was created as an E-gov initiative. The focus of the BFELoB is to build a "budget of the future" by promoting information sharing across Government agency budget offices and building a "community of practice." Through collaboration, the budget community can start to identify best practices for all aspects of budget formulation and execution. The BFELoB strives to find solutions linking budget formulation, execution, planning, performance, and financial management information.

The Department of Education acts as the "Managing Partner", establishing the Program Management Office (PMO) to oversee BFELoB work. OMB is the Policy Lead for the BFELoB.

MAX is a general term referring to the MAX Federal Community and several applications including MAX Collect, MAX Analytics and MAX Publications.

7) How do I get a MAX account?

If you are a federal executive branch employee and do not have a MAX account, please go to https://max.omb.gov/maxportal

To register for a MAX Account, click "Register Here" on the MAX Homepage. All new users must complete the Registration form to gain access to the MAX System. You will then receive an email containing the next steps in completing your registration. Once your registration is complete, you will receive an automated email confirming the creation of your MAX Account and instructions for creating your password. After logging in, you will be able to see the applications and groups that you have access to.
